Little Teeny Bug

She is finally here! Teeny Bug was born on Monday, June 29th. She was a BIG baby. She is probably the cutest baby I've ever seen, and I don't think I'm biased because we got a lot of compliments from the nurses and friends too. For those who want to know how things happened, I'll tell you, but I won't be offended if you stop reading here ;) Here are some pictures beforehand though.....

Finally going home....

Asleep in her favorite place... the rocker

DBop and I went to the hospital at 7:30pm on Sunday to be induced. I was going to start off with cytotec, which would soften the cervix, and start the pitocin in the morning. Come to find out, when we got to the hospital, I was already dialated and having some contractions, so they just started the pitocin right then. By nine, they had started the pictocin and labor had started!

During the night, they increased the pictocin slowly and I started having constant contractions and they gave me Stadol at about one in the morning, which basically made me feel like I was drunk. DBop got about 20 minutes of me saying the craziest things on tape, but I don't know that it will broadcasted. I felt better and got some rest.

It wore off in a couple hours and I started having a lot of pain. I got the epidural at about 5:00 in the morning and it was really not fun to get it, but it was nice afterwards. I finally dialated to a 10 at 12:50 in the afternoon and started to push. DBop thought that most people only pushed 5 or 6 times and then it was all over, little did he know that I would be pushing for 2 hours.

Sometime when I moved around to start pushing, the tube from my epidural got kinked behind my back and I started to gain some feeling back. This is where things turned from good to bad. I told the nurses that I could start feeling my legs and stomach more and they noticed that the epidural was almost out. So they ordered some more to replace it. By the time they had noticed it was kinked, it had already worn off. Not only did I feel everything from then on, but I also started throwing up really bad during the middle of pushing, which was something I didn't even think could happen.

After about an hour and a half of pushing my doctor came in and everyone got scrubbed up to deliver her. It was really awesome because they were all yelling at me to push and I felt like I was the center of a sporting event. When she finally came, they placed her on my stomach and she looked right at me. She was so beautiful and I never expected her to look so perfect. Then she sneezed right in my face and I just started laughing. DBop and I just admired her for a moment and he was able to cut the chord, which I'm surprised he did because he said he wouldn't.

They took her off of me and DBop went over to see her under the heat lamp. All of a sudden, 3 doctors came over and started working really fast on something and they told me I was going to feel a lot of pain. At this point, I felt really light headed and I had no idea what was going on. I could see things happening, but I don't remember hearing them. DBop said that he looked over at me and there was blood pouring all over the table and floor and the doctors were scrambling to take care of it. The doctor even stuck his hand inside me and tried to stop the bleeding, which I don't remember him doing at all. All I could do was breath and move my head from side to side, but other than that, I don't really remember a whole lot. Later the next day, one of the doctor's came and told me I had lost 750 mL of blood and the doctor's said that most people only lose about 500.

I remember coming to a little bit and since my epidural wore off, they gave me a local anesthetic to start repair. Teeny Bug's head was 15 in around so I guess it was pretty bad. Then I remember being able to feel the stitching because they couldn't wait for the local to set in in some areas. I was in so much pain that I couldn't even keep my eyes open. By the time they were done and cleaned everything up, my body could not stop shaking.

The nurse finally came and brought me Teeny Bug after all this happened, which I think was about a half hour. After holding her in my arms and looking at her pretty blue eyes, I couldn't believe she was here. There was such a strong spirit in the room and I knew that Heavenly Father had just given us one of his most choice spirits to take care of. DBop and her have such a good connection and she recognized him instantly. We both love her so much it's unbelievable. I never knew I could feel like this. Knowing how much she means to us, I would do it all over again. All of the pain and exhaustion from bringing her into the world was so worth it.
